The Data Protection Act 1998
In force in the United Kingdom since 2000, the Data
Protection Act protects the processing and use of personal
data, information which can identify a living individual.
Since the Act applies to UK-based organizations,
individuals living outside the UK are also protected.

Basel II
The International Convergence of Capital
Measurement and Capital Standards: a Revised
Framework (Basel II) offers a new set of standards for
establishing minimum capital requirements for banking
organizations – the amount of capital reserves financial
institutions are required to hold to meet their credit,
operational and market risks.

Freedom of Information Act 2000
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 came into force on
1st January 2005. Among other things, it gives
individuals the right to request information held by public
authorities.
