A privately owned Canadian company, Securit employs over 2,600 people in 16 countries, managing information for over 150,000 clients around the world including 1500 hospitals, 1200 universities and colleges, 8500 bank branches, 500 police forces and multiple intelligence and security agencies. Shred-it, launched in Canada in 1988, was the first service offered by Securit, helping organizations protect their confidential information through secure on site document destruction. The commitment to security, integrity and customer service excellence that was always the Shred-it cornerstone continues to guide the entire company today.

Securit currently operates 12 full service information security branches across Canada and the U.S. in addition to 128 Shred-it document destruction branches worldwide.

Environmental accountability

Our recycling program saves over nine million trees each year. For every two consoles filled with paper, one tree is saved.

Industry certification

Securit has achieved NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) Certification for all locations in Canada, and several locations throughout the USA.

Commitment to the community

Established in 2004, the Securit Foundation has committed $1 million over four years to fund three distinct programs:

1. Community-based charities in the markets we serve
2. Post-secondary scholarships for children of employees
3. Special projects in developing countries

To help community members combat identity theft, Securit also conducts free Community Shred Events across North America.
